Pandora Debuts New Discovery Tool

It’s called “Browse” and Pandora says it helps users discover even more of the music they’ll love. The new tool gives users nonstop discovery of new stations based on their listening activity, and users can see what’s playing on a station before adding it to their station list.

Chief Product Officer Chris Phillips says, “Finding new music should be a simple and enjoyable experience. Our musicologists have scored millions of songs to find the perfect music just for you. The new Browse feature makes it easy to find the music you love whether you know what you want, or need a little help discovering music you didn’t know existed.”

  1. I have a theory.
Since most of us are listeners, as well, it’s a good thing we are generally, lazy, somewhat tolerant and quickly overwhelmed by confusing technology.

Even though radio, in general, is maudlin, annoying and superficial, just those factors alone should keep radio viable – for awhile. Audiences can, indeed, be quite tolerant.
Plus, having to be precise about choosing only the music I might already enjoy or, gawd forbid, launch into a journey of discovering new tunes? Well, those are tasks that are just too daunting.
