Covering The Storm From New York To Florida

JVC Broadcasting CEO John Caracciolo tells Radio Ink LI News Radio 103.9 activated the storm center at 3PM on Friday and was on the air live from the studios at LI MacArthur airport for the duration of the storm, even when the airport shutdown on Saturday morning. “LI News provided live reports to all JVC Long Island stations throughout the event. Staff members from all the JVC stations pitched in as live field reporters and phoned in actualities from locations all around the island. We had reporters live from the Airport operation center, the Suffolk County Police command post, and the Town of Brookhaven Highway Department. Our Long Island Spanish station 98.5 Leafiest took part as well and translated all the reports into Spanish and our staff member at the police command center was bilingual and did a separate Spanish top of the hour update.”

JVC even kept the snowbirds in Florida informed, according to Caracciolo. “At one point on Saturday during the worst part of the storm we cut over to a full simulcast of LI News Radio on all Long Island JVC stations and our West Palm Beach News Talk station, 900AM the Talk of the Palm Beaches picked up the feed for about an hour.   I am told the Long Island winter population of West Palm loved it.”

“Monday it will be all about the clean up and the war stories. This is local radio at its finest.”
