Radio One Baltimore Launches “Kels In The Afternoon”

A few months ago, Radio One announced the promotion of Vernon Kelson to Operations Manager for its Baltimore cluster of stations. Now, Kelson, a Baltimore native, is taking over afternoons on WERQ 92Q FM starting Monday. This is the replacement show for The Fam with QuickSilva and Lil’ Mo, which transitions to Radio One DC on WKYS 93.9 FM on January 19, 2016.

Kelson started his radio career as a programming intern in 2001 at Radio One Baltimore and eventually worked in programming, promotions, and production. His innovation and drive for broadcast excellence got him named on The Source magazine’s 2012 “Power 30” list and has propelled his career. Kelson was eventually promoted to Music Director and Assistant Program Director before transitioning to Radio One DC to support WKYS. In 2014, Kelson was promoted once again to Program Director of WIZF and Interim Program Director of WOSL in Cincinnati. Proving himself yet again, Howard Mazer, Vice President and General Manager, Radio One Baltimore promoted him back home to Baltimore as Operations Manager and now as the afternoon talent.
