The New York Times details how New York Mayor Bill de Blasio is trying to get on the radio as much as possible after his ratings took a hit. It all started on WOR with an appearance on the Len Berman and Todd Schnitt show. He’s now done has done more than 30 radio appearances in the past three months—more than during his first 20 months in office. Karen Hinton, the mayor’s chief spokeswoman ‘‘We want to get his message directly to the people. Radio is live, and it does exactly that.” Mayor Bloomberg’s former press secretary Stu Loser says, “You might think that more people getting their information from social media would make technology that’s been used to share news for almost a century less relevant. In fact, the opposite is true and old-fashioned radio provides an almost perfect platform for a mayor.”
