Two Richmond stations have teed up a new tradition, with the first round played for families who have lost a first responder. The inaugural Swing Fore Heroes raised money to help pay off mortgages and build custom homes for families and service members in need.
Audacy Richmond’s Newsradio WRVA (WRVA-AM) and 910 The Fan (WRNL-AM) hosted the golf tournament at Hunting Hawk Golf Club in Ashland, VA. Thirty teams of four competed, and the stations raised $15,174 for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
The funds will support the foundation’s mission to pay off mortgages for the families of fallen first responders and Gold Star families, as well as build custom, mortgage-free “smart homes” for severely injured service members.
In September, WRVA teamed up with Virginia Urology, the Richmond Flying Squirrels, and Fans for the Cure to host the second annual “Hitting Prostate Cancer Out Of The Park” event.
