Nebraska radio stations turned their airwaves toward childhood brain cancer research again last week, and listeners answered by topping last year’s total. The 14th annual Team Jack Radiothon, in coordination with the Huskers Radio Network, raised more than $210,000.
The Team Jack Foundation was founded by the family of Jack Hoffman, whose 69-yard touchdown run in Nebraska’s 2013 spring game earned an ESPY Award. Hoffman died in January 2025 at 19 after a 14-year battle with brain cancer. Proceeds, up from $170,000 in 2025, support childhood brain cancer research, including major commitments to the University of Nebraska Medical Center. The radiothon has raised more than $1.5 million since its launch in 2013.
Donors were encouraged to select the station they were listening to, entering it in a station fundraising challenge. Throughout the day, listeners heard from nearly 30 Nebraska families affected by the disease, along with former Husker Rex Burkhead and Nebraska coaches Matt Rhule and Fred Hoiberg.
