Woodward Community Media’s radiothon to stock pantry shelves for local veterans closed out its eighth year in Appleton, WI, with donations for the annual Combat Hunger Food and Funds Drive pouring in from listeners, businesses, and community partners.
Woodward’s carried live broadcasts, community updates, interviews, and donation drives across the day-long event, raising roughly $7,000 in monetary donations and an estimated 2,000 pounds of food for Wisconsin Veterans Village. Organizers had asked donors to bring monetary donations, canned fruits and vegetables, soups and stews, pasta and rice, peanut butter, cereal and oatmeal, shelf-stable meals, and other pantry staples.
Woodward Community Media Market Manager BJ DeGroot said, “Combat Hunger gives our listeners, local businesses, and community partners an opportunity to make a real difference for veterans in our community. Every donation matters.”
