As the 25th anniversary of September 11 approaches, radio stations from coast to coast are ready to mark the moment. From live coverage of memorial ceremonies to audio tributes, the industry is finding multiple ways to help listeners pause and remember.
Among the stations offering tributes, Audacy New York City’s 1010 WINS will begin its coverage at 8:30a ET with the annual 9/11 Memorial ceremony. Reporters Juliet Papa and Scott Stanford will co-host from the studio through the first moment of silence at 8:46a, then continue through the reading of the names and the moments of silence honoring those killed on September 11, 2001, the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, and people who have since died of 9/11-related illnesses.
WINS reporters will be stationed throughout the region, including at the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, Atlantic Beach, the Yankee Stadium and Citi Field ceremonies, and the Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund, filing live reports throughout the morning.
Benztown has also made four original 9/11 tribute pieces available to any station at no cost, whether or not they are a Benztown client. The tributes were written by Thomas Green, produced by Royce Stevenson, and voiced by MJ Bloch and Darren Silva.
Stations can download the tributes for free via Benztown’s website for use in their September 11 programming.
This is in addition to previously announced FOX News Radio programming, and Any Other Tuesday: Reporting On 9/11 From The Air, a two-part special built around the traffic helicopter crew that covered the attacks live 25 years ago, which will also be airing on stations including Hofstra University’s WRHU and Montclair State University’s WMSC, with the special available at no charge to any station.
