Kenny Smoov, Cumulus Media’s Vice President of Urban Formats and Program Director of Nashville’s 92Q, has parted ways with the broadcaster after 23 years, 21 of them leading WQQK, to launch independent ventures through his new Nashville Brown LLC.

As VP of Urban Formats, Smoov oversaw Urban radio brands and talent across the country, a role that included signing off on programming hires in markets like Shreveport and Memphis.

Smoov joined Cumulus in 2003 and was named 92Q’s Program Director, later launching The Kenny Smoov Morning Show in October 2018 and earning The Tennessean’s 2017 Favorite Radio Personality of the Year honor along the way. In June 2019, Cumulus promoted him to Vice President of Urban Formats, adding oversight of the company’s Urban stations nationwide while he continued at 92Q.

Smoov moved off mornings in July 2025, when 92Q launched a new show, The 615 Wake Up, and he shifted into a Program Director and midday role for his final year at the station.

Media, content, consulting and entertainment opportunities are next on the agenda for Smoov, who will pursue them through his newly formed Nashville Brown LLC while saying he remains open to his next executive, programming, or media leadership opportunity.

Smoov said, “This has been an incredible chapter of my life and career, and I’m extremely proud of what we built, the people I’ve had the opportunity to work with, and the relationships I’ve developed both in Nashville and nationally over the past two decades. But I’m also excited about what comes next. I still have a lot of ideas, energy, and great work ahead of me.”
