Among his many accomplishments, the longtime radio manager helped turn WFBQ-FM in Indianapolis into a powerhouse. The Indianapolis Business Journal reports that Wheat died last Friday. He managed WFBQ from 1984-2006. He also managed sports-talker WNDE-AM and alternative rock station WOLT-FM for Clear Channel. He retired in 2015.

Alpha Media, San Jose is syndicating Brooke & Jubal for mornings on Mix 106 (KEZR) starting Monday, October 16. The popular hosts will continue to be based at Hubbard's KQMV Seattle.

Fields has been named the new Afternoon Drive Host at the Beasely station. He will begin his new position on Monday, October 16. Fields most recently served as a meteorologist at KCBS-TV in Los Angeles.

Former NAB Joint Board Chairman, and Commonwealth Broadcasting CEO, Steve Newberry has joined the NAB as Executive Vice President for Strategic Planning/Special Projects. Newberry has been a Washington-based communications consultant since 2015. He served as chairman of NAB’s Joint Board of Directors from 2009 to 2011.

Entercom Charlotte has announced a new multiyear partnership with Frank Garcia, host of The Garcia and Bailey Show on WFNZ, 102.5 FM and 610 AM, weekdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Garcia has been broadcasting his midday show on WFNZ since 2007.

It's a new multi-year deal between the Marconi winner and Reach Media. Smiley, who's heard on more than 65 stations, said, "You know we keep it real every morning. Former NFL cornerback Eric Davis is expanding his role on ESPNLA 710AM to include a position with Marcellus Wiley and Kelvin Washington starting Thursday, Oct. 12. The newly renamed Afternoons with Marcellus, Kelvin and Eric will air weekdays from 3-7 p.m. PT.

Rocker Nikki Sixx announced on Thursday that he plans to end his three syndicated programs with Premiere at the end of this year. Sixx' flagship program Sixx Sense launched in 2010 and had 130 affiliates. His final broadcast will be December 31.

Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran was in Nashville over the weekend, and WRVW asked him to design and sign a t-shirt, which they are now auctioning off, with 100% of the proceeds going to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital.

Lisa Pike has joined TagStation, LLC as Senior Vice President for Revenue Development. In the newly created role, Pike will drive business development initiatives with leading data attribution platforms, brands, agencies, automotive, media, and technology companies to enhance NextRadio’s relevance, reach, and revenue.
