NPR's Miranda Kennedy is joining Vox as the executive producer for a very specific project. Why? Here's a hint: Kennedy played a crucial role in launching and shaping the sound and format of NPR's hugely successful daily news podcast Up First.

KFKA in Northern Colorado is launching a new morning show, hosted by Brian Gary and Tanner Schwindt. “Good Morning NOCO” will focus on local news, sports, weather, traffic and fun.

Dick Broadcasting, Myrtle Beach, has named Charlie Steele Operations Manager for WYAV-FM, WRNN-FM, WYMB-FM, WKZQ-FM, and WRNN-FM. Steele was previously PD for heritage Classic Rock station WQMF and Active Rock station WTFX in Louisville. 

After a year of financial uncertainty, radio ownership grew in the first quarter of 2024, according to FCC license records. Noncommercial FM numbers have soared in the past year, driven by aggressive buying from religious broadcasters.

The National Hockey League’s Arizona Coyotes and iHeartMedia Phoenix have a new multi-platform broadcast and streaming agreement, making Fox Sports 910 the flagship station for all Coyotes games.

Brian Wieser, Senior Media Analyst From Pivotal Research Group, is downgrading his projections for 2017. He says there will be tough 2016 comps as the year turned out to be much better than expected. Wiser told investors, “We are revising our 2017 forecast to a +2.0% growth rate for the year ahead." His original forecast was an increase of 2.8%. Wieser says 2016 grew 5%, the ad industry’s best year since 2005.

iHeartMedia Norfolk, which recently flipped a CHR station to Alternative Rock, has hired Brett Ballard to program the station. He'll also host afternoons. Ballard joins the Norfolk Market from WTKX in Mobile where he was PD at WTKX. He also programmed WRKH in Mobile and WFFX in Hattiesburg, Mississippi for iHeart.

The streaming pure-play says the addition of AdsWizz will upgrade its ad tech capabilities. This is not an unexpected move as Pandora moves more into programmatic buying and away from feet-on-the-street selling to cut down on cost, as we've learned from their earnings calls.
