Deezer Picks Up Over $100 Million

Streaming service Deezer has secured $109 million in funding. The financing will be used to increase customer acquisition efforts around the world, accelerate the introduction of new products, features, and growth initiatives to serve the company’s mission to create a more valuable product offering and build more programmed experiences for music fans. Deezer says it has also expanded its catalogue to over 40 million songs.

iHeartRadio Crosses 80 Million User Mark

iHeartMedia announced on Thursday that the 5-year-old iHeartRadio app now has more than 80 million registered users. iHeartRadio President Darren Davis said, "In just five years, we've seen continued powerful growth in our registered user base -- a testament to the power of radio and listening."

Live 365 Closing Down In Nine Days

The news was sent out to over 5,000 customers using the service, announcing the shutdown would be January 31. Live 365 had hinted earlier this year that the new royalty rates were the reason it might shut down. Here's the message customers received this week.

Spotify Rolling Out Video Feature

Spotify is getting to launch a new video feature it has been testing over the past several months. The company announced the plans to begin distributing videos and podcasts with content providers that include ESPN, Comedy Central, the BBC, Vice Media and Maker Studios.

NAB Launches Bi-Weekly Podcast

Each podcast is dedicated to covering timely issues impacting radio. A new NAB podcast will be released every other Tuesday. Each episode is 15 minutes long and is available publicly for two weeks. Then, it will be archived for NAB members-only access at LISTEN HERE.

DGital, Yahoo! Sports Launch J.J. Redick Podcast

The new podcast, called The Vertical Podcast with JJ Redick, features L.A. Clippers guard J.J. Redick. It's part of The Vertical Podcast with Woj, a series with Yahoo! Sports NBA. Reporter Adrian Wojnarowski will publish new episodes each Tuesday.
