WIN Radio Broadcasting Corp., the licensee of an FM translator in Montgomery County, Maryland, has been issued a Notice of Apparent Liability for Forfeiture (NALF) in the amount of $7,500 by the Audio Division of the Media Bureau. The NALF is a result of WIN Radio Broadcasting failing to file a required form to obtain consent for using a different antenna and operating with an unauthorized antenna for its FM translator, W232DE in Potomac, Maryland.
The FM translator broadcasts at 101.5 MHz and rebroadcasts WCTN-AM 950 in Cabin John, Maryland. The interference caused by W232DE’s signal with WOWD-LPFM in Northeast Washington, D.C., and downtown Silver Spring prompted the complaint by WOWD’s owner, Historic Takoma. Despite the NALF, WIN can remain a licensee if it resolves the forfeiture and builds facilities to meet the licensing specifications by the deadline.
