General Sales Manager


Mid-West Family Springfield is hiring a General Sales Manager to oversee aspects of our revenue generation department including the staff and structures for developing business within our local communities.

In this role, the GSM will lead a team of at least 5 Business Development Specialists who work with local businesses to help them achieve their business goals.  The GSM will interact with our local community as a leader on marketing, advertising, and media initiatives, in addition to contributing to the overall economic health of the region.  The GSM will work as part of a Revenue Generation Team, alongside the Dir. Of Integrated Business Development and Strategy, and be a part of the larger leadership team within Mid-West Family Springfield.

The GSM will oversee all radio advertising sales goals, assist in the implementation of promotional and event opportunities for advertisers, and lead structured digital sales opportunities.  The GSM will be accountable for revenue goals on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

The ideal candidate for this role will have the following talents:

–    Strong personal accountability and goal-orientation
–    Proven ability to hold individuals accountable toward an outcome without using bully tactics
–    Ability to understand and develop culture of a team and business operation
–    Demonstrated structural skills for a team and for individuals
–    Understanding of CRM tools, digital media opportunities
–    High sense of mission, competition, exactness, and profit orientation.
–    Broadcast media sales track record is required.  Broadcast sales management experience helpful.
–    Familiarity with the Center for Sales Strategy operating systems and the willingness to work within their process for team and talent development, and revenue generation.  Willingness to understand the Borrell data for the marketplace and use data to drive revenue.
