Wendy Bell Facing COVID-19 Backlash

KDKA Pittsburgh host Wendy Bell is taking on some criticism after comments she made on her show Sunday night. They had to do with shutting down the economy across the country to save lives. She says she’s on the fence about that.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that the following comments caused an uproar on social media where some people were asking for Bell to be fired. “Yes, every life lost is one too many. Yes, that’s the talking point. That’s what we’re going to say. But ultimately dollars and cents boil down to, ‘Are you going to bankrupt America and the future for less than 1% of our population?’ Many of whom are already ill or aged. I’m on a fence.”

  1. I can’t believe that her husband who is a physician can tolerate the stupidity that is running out of her mouth. Her selfish comments and lack of concern for the health of the people in Pennsylvania is unacceptable. Hopeful KDKA soon wises up and looks for a replacement – who long do we have to listen to her stupidity !!

    • Your virtue signaling is worse than her comments. We list 100,000 Americans in 1968 to Hong Kong flu and even had a Woodstock gathering, yet nobody even CONSIDERED shutting down American society. If you want to feel safe cowering in your home then absolutely do so but don’t think the rest of us are going to suffer equally with your choices of what YOU think is moral.

      • Russ, Wendy received the truth from her husband the physician. I have a friend that works in a nursing home and they are NOT permitted to talk about their patients.
1968 with the Hong Kong flu, Woodstock that summer, war in Vietnam, the death of MLK.

  2. The work done on her face looks so good! Very nice, Wendy. Her KDKA Radio shows are perfect demo reels for a Fox News audition. Her aggressive gestures are well done, she must practice them in the mirror a lot. I wonder if her newfound affection for overalls and t-shirts are an appeal to the populist listeners? I remember when she was high heels and dresses all the time, even on the soccer field. Anyways, Wendy likes to say she’s reporting the facts but this is only true half the time. She is purposefully misleading listeners. I’m saddened that this once nice and wholesome person ended up a slave to her ego and fears. She let her anger get the best of her. I’ve been there, it sucks. God bless.

  3. First, either she isn’t keeping up with latest update of projected deaths or purposely stirring up a controversy for attention.
Fire? Naw, that would be another lawsuit in her favor.

  4. This may not be the BEST example for those ad agencies! But you make a good point.

Personally I don’t see why she is under fire for those comments. Had she said “sacrifice the old people, I want my money,” that would be bad. But to have an honest discussion and to say that she is “on the fence” – I don’t see how that is firing material.

We live in horrible times that people cannot speak freely anymore. It stifles people, and it causes them to stick to their bubble where they will just hear their thoughts amplified. Because of that, they don’t hear dissenting opinion and they just respond by closing their minds to the people who would disagree because they see them (rightly so) as the enemy because they are coming after their livelihoods just for asking a question or discussing a belief.

  5. Send this to the ad agencies who direct an undue proportion of ad buy to digital because “…people don’t listen and respond to radio any more.”

    Apparently they listen. And respond.
