Gary Buchanan, President/COO of Heart of the Rockies Radio, was named Man of the Year this past Friday night when the Salida Colorado Chamber of Commerce held their annual awards banquet. The theme for the night was “On Top of the World — Every Great Climb Begins With a Single Step.”
Buchanan has worked in radio full time for 46 years, and with over 80 stations in eight states, moving to Salida in 2014. His stations have won over 50 awards from the Colorado Broadcasters Association (21 of those in Salida), two Marconi Awards, and five Crystal Awards.
Buchanan is a member of the Chamber Ambassador group the Vaqueros, Salida Sunrise Rotary Club, Salida Elks Lodge, and currently sits on the boards of the Salida Heritage Festival and Chaffee County Community Foundation.
