They love their sports in DC, and sportscasters are often better known than the folks on the Hill. So being named the National Sports Media Associations DC Sportscaster of the Year makes WTOP Senior Sports Director and long-time Wizards radio play-by-by broadcaster Dave Johnson something special in a very competitive market.
“Dave is one of the hardest working guys I have ever met. We are so thrilled and excited to see Dave honored for the amazing work he has done throughout his career,” said Julia Ziegler, WTOP Director of News and Programming. “Dave is an incredible journalist and amazing person to work alongside each day.”
2020 marks Johnson’s 25th year serving as the morning anchor and Senior Sports Director on WTOP. And this season is Johnson’s 23rd as the voice of the team and he is about to enter his 25th season of play-by-play for Major League Soccer’s DC United.
