Work included solutions for on going problems and proposed fixes for a multitude of infrastructure related deficiencies, electrical, grounding, HVAC and FCC compliance issues at the studio and transmitter sites.

Installation of Harris 3DX 100 kW transmitter into 4 tower directional antenna system at the most powerful AM station in the United States operating on 1180 kHz. I designed and wired the remote control interface which also included a Continental 317 C3 50 kW auxiliary transmitter and worked on wiring projects in the radio and television studios. Related projects included multi camera broadcasts at out of studio locations.

HSN is the biggest television production complex on the west coast of Florida.

This was one of the most satisfying positions I’ve ever had and it was a wonderful success story for the owners Bob Zimmerman, Roger Neuhoff and the great management team they assembled for these classic stations. I recently came across a historical post on the internet and this comment from Bob Perry, former PD of WAVZ: “Under Eastern, the entire plant was redone from studios to towers by some of the best engineers in the business – Bill Elliott, Stan Briggs and Wynn Suitor. Three years after buying the combo for 6.5 million, they sold them for 30 million and bought stations in Rhode Island.”
