University of Arkansas To Pay $76K Fine

The FCC’s Enforcement Bureau has entered into a Consent Decree to end an investigation into whether the University of Arkansas, which owns noncommercial educational stations KBPU-FM in De Queen and KTYC-FM in Nashville, Arkansas, violated the Commission’s underwriting laws by broadcasting announcements that promoted the products, services or businesses of its financial contributors.

The University has admitted the announcements violated the Commission’s underwriting laws and agreed to implement a five-year compliance plan and pay a $76,000 civil penalty.
