How To Expertly Work The Dump Button

Entercom’s 105.3 The Fan in Dallas is getting some national attention thanks to Cowboys owner Jerry Jones who went on a curse filled rant about how awful his team is. That caused the station to have to use the dump button twice and flushed Jones right off the air.

Jones took his frustrations out on midday hosts Kevin & Cory during his weekly interview on the station. He told the hosts to get their damn act together. “We’re going to have a good visit this morning but settle down just a little bit. We have a lot to go over, go on with your questions, but I’m going to give you the answers I want to give you this morning and I don’t like your attitude to come in. I’ve been traveling all night and I don’t have the patience to jack with you today.”

Then Jones really lost control of his manners. “There’s a whole bunch of times when I have to bull[expletive] the hell out of you. Do you understand bull[expletive]?” That’s when the station had to dump Jones twice causing him to disappear from the interview.

PD Gavin Spittle has been explaining to the outside-the-radio-world how radio’s dump system operates and that the station did not hang up on Jones. “We have a delay system in the radio station, and when certain words are used, we hit the dump button and it cuts down. If you hit it twice in the row, which I had to do because of the two swears, that automatically cuts everything off with the radio station minus the hosts.”

Jones called back in and continued the interview withouth the station having to dump him again.
