Heavy Winds Snap Radio Tower in Half

WAKY-FM in Elizabethtown, KY had its tower snap in half the day before Thanksgiving. Strong winds caused the 100-foot tower to break and left it dangling. Having this happen one day before a 4-day weekend certainly did not help in getting the tower replaced quickly.

W&B Broadcasting Managing Partner Rene Bell told the local TV station that it could be several weeks before the station gets back to normal operations. The station was able to continue streaming online. W&B’s two other radio stations use a different system and were not affected by the loss of the tower.
