Mathew Rydberg, who was known as Matt McKay on Alpha’s KFRX-FM in Lincoln, was charged with domestic assault back on April 20. He was fired by Alpha in May, took a plea deal in July and was sentenced to two years probation this week.

The Lincoln Journal Star reports that Rydberg told Lancaster County District Judge Darla Ideus the incident is something he never wants to have happen again and wants to learn from.

The former morning show host was originally facing a felony charge. Authorities say Rydberg, while intoxicated, got into an argument with a woman at his home. The woman told police she went to sleep in her children’s room when Rydberg became angry. Police say the woman told them Rydberg “pushed on her neck and she couldn’t breathe, pushed her face, bit her nose and shoved her.” The incident was allegedly witnessed by the children.

According to the paper the judge said, “You have taken a number of steps to address the problem, and you do appear to grasp the seriousness of what happened that night.”
