Guthrie To Stay With Apollo. What About Bill?

    Kim Guthrie will become CEO of the Cox Media Group for the private equity fund that purchased the Cox Radio stations back in June. The new company Guthrie will be leading will include TV, Radio, CoxReps and GAMUT.

    Guthrie’s title will become official after The FCC approves the deal. Guthrie is currently the President of Cox Media Group.

    There was no mention in the story about the future role current CMG EVP Bill Hendrich who’s been running the radio stations since taking over for Guthrie back in 2015. Hendrich currently oversees Jacksonville Radio and TV, Orlando Radio and TV, Tulsa Radio and TV, Miami Radio, Tampa Radio, San Antonio Radio, Long Island Radio, and Houston Radio. He also has oversight of CMG’s Radio Programming, Radio Revenue team, and the Radio Digital Strategy team.

    When the Apollo announcement was made the press release stated: Apollo planned to “maintain the successful operating structure of Cox Media Group’s television, radio, CoxReps, and Gamut businesses, and leverage these assets to continue building a national media company with station properties in key markets across the country.” Apollo first came on to the radio scene in February when it too a majority stake in CMG’s Dayton media properties.

    Cox operates more than 60 radio stations across 11 markets. Guthrie has been with Cox since 1998.
