Veteran morning radio host Brian Pierce (Cozadd) is hanging up the headphones after 45 years in radio. His last day will be July 26 with his final morning show on WUSW-FM  and his final talk show (10a-12n) on WMAY-AM, both in Springfield, IL.

Pierce’s dream to be “the voice on the radio” started with a pirate station in his parent’s house in Springfield, IL, at age 15. He got his first job on his hometown Top 40 station (WCVS.) The next 45 years took him to San Antonio (WOAI, KAJA, KLLS, KSMG), New Orleans (WEZB, WDSU -TV), Boston (WZOU), Dallas (KLUV & ABC Satellite Music Network, to doing a team show with his wife (Kellie Michaels) for 25 years on Springfield, IL, AC WNNS and Country station KFDI in Wichita, KS.

Pierce returned to Springfield in 2015, where he has been doing mornings on Country station WUSW and accomplished a goal of hosting a political talk show on WMAY.

“I couldn’t imagine doing anything else for a living. And I’ve been fortunate that I’ve been able to do what I love across the country and back here in my hometown. But now it’s time to stop getting up at 2:30 in the morning,” Pierce said about his retirement.
