Cox Makes Big Effort For Tornado Relief

Cox Media Group’s K99.1 FM/Dayton, OH, has helped raise nearly $300,000 in the past month for tornado relief across the Dayton community. Along with Cox’s other media interests in the area, and the Dayton Foodbank, they raised more than $170,000 for the Foodbank. In addition, the James M. Cox Foundation donated $120,000 for the Dayton community, to be shared by several charities.

Those in the region can continue to support the tornado recovery efforts by donating time and money to any of the following:

– CMGO will continue to accept donations through June 28 at www.whio.com/tornadorelief, www.daytondailynews.com/tornadorelief, or www.k99online.com/tornadorelief
– The Dayton chapter of the American Red Cross has set up shelters throughout the region and provided debit cards for families in need to buy necessities.
– The Dayton Foodbank has expanded hours and opened a drive-through food pantry, provided mobile food units in storm-damaged neighborhoods, and worked with hundreds of food pantries and community groups to provide food for those in need.
– The Dayton Foundation set up the Greater Dayton Disaster Relief Fund. All funds raised by this account will be distributed to vetted nonprofit organizations that are helping others get back on their feet after catastrophic events, now and in the future.
