Three Decades Of “Floydian Slip”

1

The weekly Pink Floyd show, produced by Craig Bailey of Shelburne, VT, turns 30 this month. Bailey aired his first episode in January 1989 on Ithaca College’s 106-VIC in Ithaca, NY, as a senior Television-Radio major.

Back then, the station reached the college campus over an AM frequency transmitted through the campus electrical system; and at 105.9 FM on the county’s cable television system. Then, after producing the show for stand-alone FM stations in the Burlington area beginning in 1994, Bailey self-syndicated the program in 2009. The show is now heard on 109 stations in more than 40 states.

Bailey offers the show to stations in a cash-free/100% barter arrangement. Each show contains six minutes of local availabilities and six minutes of network commercial inventory. He also makes the show available free of charge to non-commercial broadcasters operating in markets not served by commercial Floydian Slip affiliates.
