Cruisin’ To Save Homeless Pets

WDRV-FM/Chicago’s The Sherman & Tingle Show (Brian Sherman, Steve Tingle, and Executive Producer Jill Egan) recently completed a charitable effort to benefit Wright-Way Rescue – a non-profit organization whose mission aims to reduce the number of homeless pets euthanized in the Midwest each year.

Throughout September, the show invited fans to donate to the cause and to take part in an event called “Boataoke.” Hosted by Sherman, Tingle and Jill, the karaoke-meets-cruise event accommodated hundreds of pet lovers onboard a passenger vessel that cruises the Chicago River and Lake Michigan. The ticketed event saw fans singing Classic Rock karaoke while enjoying a scenic tour of the Chicago skyline and a Classic Rock auction. All proceeds from tickets, auction items, and monetary donations totaled over $60,000.

WDRV Program Director, Rob Cressman, added, “The Sherman & Tingle Show consistently advocates for the health and well-being of the pet community in Chicagoland.  While the show’s ability to create a unique and entertaining opportunity for pet lovers to unite was not surprising, the sheer volume of interest and colossal contributions exceeded all expectations.  The Sherman & Tingle Show and The Drive are proud to be associated with such a worthy cause.”
