Fresno’s NewsTalk 580/105.9 KMJ recently teamed with local agriculture company Gar Tootelian Inc. to raise money for the Central California Food Bank, and listeners responded magnificently. Friday’s day-long broadcast at The Market in NW Fresno featured KMJ hosts John Broeske, Christina Musson, Ray Appleton, and Chris Daniel. Listeners donated more than $150,000 in cash, while the Smittcamp Family Foundation pitched in with a $100,000 gift. In addition, Gar Tootelian Inc. matched every donation with 50 cents on the dollar.

Tootelian’s match totaled more than $126,000 — bringing the total cash donation to the Central California Food Bank to $380,000, far surpassing previous fundraisers. The funds will help the Central Valley’s less fortunate residents by providing 2.5 million meals.

“We are so blessed by the very generous support of KMJ, Gar Tootelian, and everyone who gave to this year’s Feeding Families Fund Drive. We will be able to provide over 2.5 million meals to families in need with the proceeds from this year’s drive. The GAR match continues to go far beyond all of our expectations,” said Andy Souza, CEO of the Central California Food Bank.
