SBS Having “Best Year Ever”

Those are the words of Spanish Broadcasting System COO Albert Rodriguez who tells Radio Ink the last six months were the best in the company’s history. And Rodriguez is very optimistic about the outlook for the remainder of 2018. He said the company is seeing a lot of growth in local, double digit revenue growth in national and tier 2 and 3 automotive was up 44% quarter to quarter.

Drilling down into other categories for SBS, retail, financial/banking and entertainment were all strong while the telecommunications category was flat. Rodriguez said all of SBS’s markets are performing well and the company outperformed the Miller/Kaplan numbers in every market it has stations. Rodriguez says the strong 6-month showing is due to changes in senior management, tight cost controls and a focus on delivering strong content.

SBS CEO Raul Alarcon said, “Our top-line growth was supported by a continued focus on actively managing our costs which were down significantly compared to last year and helped drive healthy margin expansion.”
