New Podcast Gets Behind Women Candidates

More female candidates, more first-time candidates, and more minority candidates are running for office than ever before. In collaboration with Cult Favorite Media, Westwood One is launching a new podcast called Run Like A Girl. It has one goal: to get as many women, on both sides of the aisle, elected to office as possible. The podcast, co-created and hosted by voiceover artist and screenwriter Tracy Fraim, introduces listeners to different female candidates from across the country. In addition, the podcast goes inside the Gretchen Whitmer campaign for exclusive access to one of the most competitive gubernatorial contests in the country — Michigan.

“The time is now for these exceptional women,” said Suzanne Grimes, EVP, Marketing for Cumulus Media and President of Westwood One. “They’re courageous and tenacious, and we are proud to shine our spotlight on their personal stories and support them with a massive radio, social, and influencer marketing campaign.”

“Women represent a paltry 20% of the seats in Congress,” said Donna Fazzari, co-creator, and executive producer. “To change that equation once and for all, we need to normalize what it’s like for a woman to run, and in turn, lead this country. The intimate medium of podcasting is an ideal environment to experience the triumphs and challenges of these candidates as they push through political boundaries.”

Run Like a Girl debuts on August 23 and runs through election day. The podcast trailer is available now on Apple Podcasts, Google Play, WestwoodOnePodcasts.com, and the Westwood One Podcasts App for iOS or Android and runlikeagirlpodcast.com.
