Podcasting Going Gangbusters For Scripps

Scripps uses both Midroll and Stitcher to push out podcasting programming and the company says revenue is up 50% over last year in that division, including money from Proctor & Gamble in Q2. Podcast subscription revenue is also growing with dozens of original shows driving the growth. For example, the show Freakanomics is getting 12 million downloads every month. Senior VP of National Media Laura Tomlin said Stitcher now has 20K hours of ad-free content for people willing to pay $5.00 per month to listen.
