Chaz and AJ, the morning team at 99.1 (WPLR-FM/New Haven, CT), hosted their annual Veterans Gala at Fantasia Banquet Facility and were able to raise $18,000 for the Connecticut-based Homes for the Brave. The gala featured stand-up from national touring comedian Lenny Clarke, local Fairfield Police Chief Gary MacNamara, and morning show co-host AJ. All the money raised will go to help build homes, teach vocational training, and work with veterans who are homeless.
“With over a million U.S. veterans at risk of homelessness, this is the least we could do,” Chaz said, “It is up to us to help take care of those that gave for their country.”
“Truly inspiring to look at a packed house of people who were there not only for laughs but to help out a great organization making a difference in our community,” said Operations Manager Keith Dakin. “Homes for the Brave is doing great things in our state and we are so happy to write them this check.”
