Detroit Stations To Pause For Advertiser

Twenty-seven Detroit and Ann Arbor stations will pause at 9 a.m. Wednesday for a special tribute to a longtime advertiser who passed away Monday after a bout with cancer. Eighty-seven-year-old Art Van Elslander, owner of Art Van Furniture, was a loyal advertiser to radio for many years. He used radio to grow from a single store in Detroit to more than 100 stores in five states, with 3,500 employees and nearly $1B in revenue. According to Detroit Radio Advertising Group President John Ballard, the stations are going to pause for a moment of silence to thank and remember him.
