Another Suspension For WEEI

Less than two weeks after WEEI-FM in Boston suspended Alex Reimer for calling New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady’s daughter “an annoying little pissant,” the station has suspended Chistian Fauria for mocking Brady’s agent, Don Yee, with a racist Asian accent Friday during his show. He’s been suspended for 5 days. Fauria, a former NFL tight end is the co-host of “Ordway, Merloni and Fauria.”

On Friday night, Fauria apologized on Twitter: Earlier today I made a horrible attempt at humor. In a segment during the show, I impersonated agent Don Yee in an insensitive and regrettable way. I want to publicly apologize to Don and anyone in the audience who heard it. I have also reached out to Don directly to personally apologize. I have been disciplined by WEEI management and I fully support their decision.

The show was discussing a Boston Herald column by Ron Borges. A listener called into WEEI as “Nick in Boston” wound up duping the columnist by making him believe he was Yee while texting him. “Nick” told Borges that Brady wanted a better contract after hearing about the new five-year, $137.5 million contract signed by former Patriots backup Jimmy Garoppolo with the 49ers. The scammer told the columnist Brady was willing to sit out offseason team activities until he got one. Borges believed it all and the paper published the column. He was suspended by the paper.
