WABC Radio Testing Live Video Streams

It’s typical for radio shows across the country to be broadcast on a local cable TV channel, especially in the sports format. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that WABC is testing live streams of three of its shows on the station’s website. Cumulus’ Director of Digital Sales and Operations Chris Rudzki tells The Journal, “This is a good opportunity for us to rebrand the station a bit.v It lets us dip our toe in the waters and see what’s out there.”

WABC is also planning to start airing and producing video ads for local advertisers hoping to drive new revenue. The tests, which will begin at the end of this month, involve three WABC shows: “The Bernie and Sid Show,” which airs weekdays from 10 a.m. to noon, “Curtis and Kuby,” which airs each weekday from noon to 3:00 p.m., as well as “The Drive at Five,” which airs at 5 p.m. WABC will be using Livestream to stream the shows.
