Political Revenue Also Disappoints Smulyan

Emmis took in $300,000 in political revenue for the quarter and that was also disappointing to Emmis CEO Jeff Smulyan. “We didn’t expect radio to be the primary medium, but all of us keep saying we hope it ramps up. The big spend is the last three weeks of October, and those last eight days of November, and a lot is placed at the last minute.” Smulyan says part of the reason Q3 is pacing the way it is is because political has been slow, and in a state like Indiana, when you see so much TV, it’s a bit disappointing.
