The Chicagoland Radio and Media Blog has the details about Lake’s firing, which took place late yesterday. The blog states no reason was given, although it appears to be for budgetary reasons. Lake had been with WLS-FM since 2008. Last night, Lake took to his Facebook page with the news: “Today was my last day in the 1-4pm slot at 94-7 WLS. I want to thank all the incredible friends I’ve come to know over the last 8 years at ‘LS. To me, it was always an honor to share ‘on air’ together with you. A heart-felt thank you to WLS management for the opportunity and to my friends – the staff, and y-o-u. We will meet again.”

Lake is a native Chicagoan from the southwest side. His first radio job was at Chicago’s WCGO-AM in 1978 (right out of high school), followed by suburban WYEN-FM in 1983 (where he was on the air and also Production Director), and a quick stop at WCLR-FM in Chicago. At the time, he was known on the air as Bob Worthington.
