Twenty Seton Hall University students participated in a class with ESPN’s Bob Picozzi. The Picozzi visit gave the students at WSOU-FM an inside look at sports broadcasting and sports journalism. The ESPN anchor’s two-hour session was part of WSOU’s ongoing series of masterclasses and “lunch and learns” that bring industry professionals and station alumni to campus to teach and mentor students. These activities are a key component of WSOU and the College of Communication and Arts’ commitment to experiential learning and professional development.

Picozzi said, “WSOU was the reason I attended Seton Hall University. To be successful, you need to take advantage of resources like WSOU. The more involved you are with campus media and the more practice you get, the better your odds for success.”

Picozzi has been with ESPN since 1998. He’s an anchor for ESPN Radio’s SportsCenter and a regular college basketball and football play-by-play announcer for ESPN television and radio. Prior to joining ESPN, Picozzi was sports director and anchor for WTNH-TV in New Haven, Conn. He also worked in radio at WNHC and WERI, and was the play-by-play announcer for the UConn Women’s Basketball Team from 1999–2010. Picozzi got his start at WSOU during his days as an undergraduate and was the station’s sports director for 1971-72.
