This past Saturday night (1/23), Westwood One News won a Golden Mike Award for best reporting by a radio network, given by the Radio and Television News Association of Southern California (RTNA). Westwood One News correspondent Jim Roope accepted the award for his coverage of last year’s Roseburg Oregon shooting massacre.
The Golden Mike Awards are Southern California’s most prestigious, and most coveted, broadcast journalism prize. Blue-ribbon panels of judges are constituted by recruiting first-rate, experienced broadcast news professionals from top markets, stations, networks, bureaus, and universities across the country.
