The New Orleans Advocate reports that 35 year old Brian Benemy is under arrest accused of 22 counts of identity theft after police say he used copies of ID cards from radio contest winners to rack up thousands of dollars in charges. The paper says Bienemy covered the NFC South for “The Sports Hangover” show on ESPN Nola 100.3 FM. He also has worked for Cumulus Radio of New Orleans, but Market Manager Greg Benefield said Bienemy was let go months ago.

Police say Bienemy was supposed to destroy the receipts and copies of ID cards included with prize claims submitted by the winners of radio contests. Instead of destroying the receipts, police allege , he kept them and used them to set up Cox Cable accounts for himself. A victim notified authorities after one account was put into collection for the amount of $1,343 owed to Cox. In all, according to Gretna police, Bienemy racked up $2,893 in charges on three accounts.
