To Be Heard, You Have to Be on Radio

In an interview with “A Taste of Country” Ronnie Dunn said he realized during his short stint as an independent artist that radio airplay is the fuel that powers an aspiring artist’s career. Dunn says Radio airplay was his biggest challenge. Despite getting airplay on SiriusXM’s The Highway and a few stations nationwide, his two new songs bombed. When Cumulus and Big Machine asked him to join the NASH Icon label, he says it was a no-brainer. “If you’re gonna be heard, you have to get on the radio. The internet alone is not gonna do it. You may recall Sony CEO Gary Overton said pretty much the same, “If you’re not on country radio, you don’t exist.”

    Woof. History isn’t kind.
