AM Revitalization Looks to Take Step Forward

AM also needs to take the early 90's standards on AM Stereo and AMAX certifications. Every new receiver from the early 90's onward should have had AM Stereo circuitry as standard, the FCC needs to mandate that manufacturers include it. People, especially younger people will not listen to very bassy, low fi, non stereo signals for music. In short no matter how good your signal, it sounds like crap. Everything went stereo years ago, we live in a multichannel world now. Mono is dead.
KMZT AM (1260) broadcasts classical music. This
is as difficult a format as there is for the AM Band. People are looking for content. We have developed an audience. A crucial element is to use the most
advanced audio and RF equipment available, and encourage listeners to acquire quality AM receivers.
Simulcasting on the Internet is important, and we have acquired a world wide audience. This also
allows local listeners to access the station in difficult environments.
Am is not dead if you program meaningful material and get off your ass and sell..it's not what you have but what you do with it that counts,,go to work and your am will make it.

AM revitalization initiative.
We have struggled with this for years with the two 500 watt AM stations we own in Iowa, for all the reasons listed.
Please save our local service we provide our local communities that is increasingly getting harder to access by poor or absent AM.
It's about time! Lets get this done. My AM's and the communities we serve would most certainly benefit.
