40% of New Car Buyers Now Have HD Radio

At the NAB Show in Las Vegas, iBiquity, the developer of HD Radio, which always has a big presence at the show, announced that there are now 16.5 million HD Radio equipped vehicles on the road and over 2,200 radio stations that are broadcasting with HD Radio technology. All major car companies now offer HD Radio receivers in one or more of their vehicle platforms, many as standard equipment.  As of the end of March, 2014, a new vehicle with HD Radio Technology is being sold every 4 seconds in the U.S.

iBiquity also announced it is experiencing tremendous growth in Mexico. Currently, 38 stations in Mexico are HD Radio equipped. Mexico City, the largest city is home to 13 FM HD Radio stations, which have also lit up 24 HD2 and HD3 channels, providing exclusive digital-only programming, including jazz, classical, modern, news, cultural and talk shows, all available subscription-free.
