Quite so, Terry. For whatever reasons, here in Canada, Jack was "our" president, too.
Maybe it's not so strange that the instantly-created, painful vacuum was replaced, to some extent, less than 90 days later by The Beatles and the following British Invasion.

On-air presenters certainly became much more satirical and cynical - and in short order.

It seems like about every 20 years there's an event that becomes the focal point of our lives, something that everybody remembers where they were and what they were doing when they first heard about it. Pearl Harbor; Challenger; 9/11. For me, JFK's assassination was the first. I was in 7th grade and had just finished taking an exam when the teacher told me what happened. The world was suddenly much different, less promising.

I was working as a kid-helper/gofer at my local station when it all started. By the time I got into the studios, every newsie in the place was crowding the joint while the news-wire was constantly banging away. It was "All Jack - All The Time."

Meanwhile, if the Kennedys ever become the basis for another whacked-out cult, will the "Magic" bullet become the "Holy" bullet...?
