30 Years For Randy Carroll

KAJA-FM announced today it will honor morning man Randy Carroll on his 30th anniversary with the station, Tuesday, December 10, at the annual KJ 97 Star Party at Cowboys Dancehall. The event will feature performances by Brett Eldredge, Tyler Farr, Kacey Musgraves, Chase Rice, Cole Swindell, and Charlie Worsham, as well as special video tributes to Carroll from some of the biggest names in country music.

Carroll, a native of Pleasanton, Texas, began his career with KJ 97 in 1983 and now co-hosts the KJ and Friends Morning Show with Jamie Martin, weekdays from 5-10:00 a.m. He has been honored with multiple industry awards throughout his career, most recently recognized with Martin by the Country Music Association for Large Market Personality of the Year in 2012.

Market Manager Marlene Trevino said, “Randy is a San Antonio radio legend, and we are very blessed to have him as a member of our Clear Channel family. On behalf of Clear Channel and the thousands of listeners that he has reached throughout his career, we congratulate Randy on his remarkable accomplishment.”

When I read the headline I thought, "Oh, my, what crime did he commit?"

But anyone who lasts that long in radio deserves time off for good behavior.
