Talk Radio Network Sues Courtside, Dial Global
The Original Talk Radio Network and Talk Radio Network Entertainment, headed up by CEO Mark Masters, have filed suit against Courtside LLC and Dial Global in U.S. District Court in Portland, OR. TRN is alleging that the defendants' "engaged in concerted efforts to disrupt the relationships" between the plaintiffs and show hosts Laura Ingraham and Michael Savage. The case number is 3:13-cv-01016-KI.
The complaint states that "There was a valid, existing contract between OTRN and Savage" and that "Courtside and Dial Global intentionally interfered with that relationship by maintaining contact with Savage even after OTRN matched Courtside's [earlier] offer sheet to Savage." And similarly for Ingraham, TRN claims that while "there was a valid, existing contract between TRNE and Ingraham," "Courtside, Dial Global, and Dial LLC intentionally interfered with that relationship by engaging in the conduct described above despite knowing that she was under contract to TRNE and by encouraging Ingraham to become dissatisfied with her relationship with TRNE."
Ingraham's show is now syndicated by Courtside, while Savage's show is heard via Cumulus Media Networks.
TRN is seeking damages in an amounted to be decided by a jury. The new lawsuits follow an earlier suit by TRN against Dial Global, in which it claimed amounts to a monopoly.
