Nominations Due Today
Radio Ink's "Medallas de Cortez Awards," sponsored by McGavren Guild Media, will be a big part of our upcoming Hispanic Radio Conference in Miami. In 2012, Univision's Claudia Puig (pictured) was named General Manager of the Year. “Last year, at the Hispanic Radio Ink Awards in San Diego, I was pleasantly surprised when I heard my name called out as the recipient of the GM of the Year Award. I was delighted to be recognized for outstanding achievement in an industry with so many remarkable professionals."

The awards are named in honor of Raoul Cortez, who founded KCOR -- the first Spanish-language station in the United States -- in 1946. Nominations are open to anyone, Hispanic and not, who is involved in Hispanic broadcasting. We want to make sure everyone dedicated to this segment of the industry has an opportunity to be recognized for their contributions to excellence in radio.
About winning the award, Puig added, "I never imagined that I would receive so many congratulatory messages during the year from so many people across the country. Throughout my career I have been fortunate to win other awards yet never received this level of response from my colleagues, I attribute this to the prestige and credibility that Radio Ink has in the business community and how recognized this award has become. I feel grateful and humbled for this amazing recognition by Radio Ink and my peers in the industry. As a general manager I know that excellence is only achievable through teamwork and collaboration. I am blessed to work with an amazing group of people with whom I am honored to share this prestigious award.”
