(AUDIO) Ron Cutler Debuts Radio/Biz Book
Ron Cutler’s new business book, "How I Turned $15,000 into $10,000,000 (HIT) and You Can Too," is more than just a detailed explanation of how Cutler made millions. It's also about Cutler's radio life and how he succeeded in the business he still loves. Everyone in radio will enjoy this book and learn from it as Cutler lays out the mistakes he made so you can avoid them. "I show all my warts in this book," Cutler told Radio Ink.
Ron Cutler has done it all in radio. Among some of his accomplishments, he helped launch the national shows of Rick Dees, Tom Joyner, and Cousin Brucie. He also started the Cutler Comedy Network and explains how the tragic death of his son prompted him to sell it to Premiere Radio Networks.
LISTEN TO OUR SHORT INTERVIEW WITH RON CUTLER
At 18 years of age, Cutler pursued his first business venture hosting teenage dances in Philadelphia for nine years. His love of music and connection with his dance audience led him to radio in 1965. As “Ron Diamond,” he was one of the first disc jockeys to play contemporary music and oldies on FM radio. In 1970, he moved west and purchased and ran radio station KOME in San Jose. Then, in 1975, Cutler created one of the first discos in Los Angeles – Bahama Mama’s. A year later, he created one of the largest nightclubs west of the Mississippi called Dillons.
Cutler's advice is based on his experience as a top-rated Philly disc jockey, “Ron Diamond”; as the original owner and creator of the legendary KOME, the San Jose FM radio station that he sold to Michael Wiener and Gerald Carrus, who formed Infinity Broadcasting making KOME Infinity’s first station. Cutler reveals how he turned a $15,000 investment into a $10 million payoff.
