CRB Names Radio Promotion Winners

The Country Radio Broadcasters announced the 2011 Radio Promotion Award winners today, which are given for creativity and implementation of promotions. They are presented annually at the Country Radio Seminar in Nashville.

In the Large Market category, the winner is KUPL/Portland, OR, for its "Free Money Friday," pairing up two station advertisers. Customers who picked up a KUPL bumper sticker at one client's location got a text message directing them to a second client's promotion and location, where they could win up to $500. Along with sales for the clients, the promotion doubled KUPL's texting database.

Winning in a medium market is WQMX/Akron, which conducted a Zac Brown Look-Alike" contest last summer, with listeners submitting pics for a chance to win concert tickets and a backstage "eat-and-greet" with the Zac Brown Band.

KZPK/St. Cloud, MN, takes the award in the Small Market category, for its FireFest benefit concert, featuring LIttle Big Town, Emerson Drive, and Bomshel. The concert raised more than $50,000 for Cold Spring, MN's Fire and Rescue Relief Association.

The awards will be presented at Thursday's "90 Executable Ideas in 50 Minutes" panel at CRS.
