Dick Broadcasting Founder James Dick Dies.

February 7, 2011: WIVK Radio and Dick Broadcasting founder James A. Dick died Sunday afternoon following a lengthy illness. Dick started Dick Broadcasting and WIVK Radio in 1953 with a commitment to community service that exists to this day. Dick not only helped launch careers of several broadcasting legends, he was a community leader, founder of charities, and a tireless supporter of several community endeavors in Knoxville.
